Padgett’s career day leads Buffs over Bluefield
Halie Padgett scored a career high 22 points and registered her fifth double-double of the season to lead the Milligan College women’s basketball team to a 70-62 victory over Bluefield College on the road Wednesday night.
BLUEFIELD, Va. (Feb. 5, 2020) – Halie Padgett scored a career high 22 points and registered her fifth double-double of the season to lead the Milligan College women's basketball team to a 70-62 victory over Bluefield College on the road Wednesday night.
The win marked Milligan's seventh in the last 12 games and avenged an overtime loss to Bluefield at home earlier this season.
Back and forth game ends with Milligan's late run
One of Padgett's buckets came in the closing seconds of the third quarter 13-2 run which put Milligan into the lead and helped the Buffs go ahead by 10 early in the fourth quarter. Bluefield only managed to cut it to four the rest of the game, and that came in the closing minute.
The game featured six ties and six lead changes, and Bluefield even had a lead of seven in the second quarter.

Behind Padgett's double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, three other Buffs made it to double figures for scoring. Kaely Gose scored 14 and added nine rebounds, seven assists and two blocks, and Lily Griffith and Hannah Wyrick scored 11 points apiece.
Cierra Cook led Bluefield with 19 points on 9-for-21 shooting.

Milligan continues its current four-game road trip with a matchup at Reinhardt University on Saturday. The Buffs will be home the two following Saturdays after that: Feb. 15 and Feb. 22.
