With 14 ties and 11 lead changes, the game was all about swings. Milligan trailed by as many as nine in the first half but led by as many as 10 in the second. Hannah Wyrick scored a go-ahead basket in the last minute of regulation, but Columbia tied it once again with a field goal in the closing seconds.
In overtime, Wyrick again scored a big basket, a 3-pointer to give Milligan a three-point lead in the final minute, but the Koalas answered with the last five points. They scored their last three points from the free throw line.
