Kiser drops 29 in Buffs’ first AAC win
Emily Kiser scored a career high 29 points, and the Milligan College women’s basketball team earned its first Appalachian Athletic Conference victory, 71-60, over Brenau University Saturday at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 23, 2019) – Emily Kiser scored a career high 29 points, and the Milligan College women's basketball team earned its first Appalachian Athletic Conference victory, 71-60, over Brenau University Saturday at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Kiser's 29 points came on 9-of-18 shooting, including a 7-for-11 effort from the perimeter. It was two points higher than her previous career high of 27 back in 2017 when she set Milligan's 3-point record with nine made triples.
Halie Padgett followed with 16 points while Kaely Gose scored nine and tallied six rebounds.
Kiser's career day includes key baskets
Milligan led the whole way, first scoring on the opening possession on a tough basket inside by Kiser, but Brenau kept it close through the closing minutes. In fact, Kiser usually scored the basket any time Brenau starting to make it interesting.
After Milligan opened up a 20-point first-half lead, Brenau had it down to six late in the third quarter before Kiser hit one of her seven triples to help the Buffs go back on top by nine heading into the final period. Kiser then scored a 2-pointer early in the fourth quarter to put Milligan up by 10, and they led by double figures for all but one possession the rest of the game.
In the box score
Kiser added four rebounds and one block to her 29 points, and she was 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Padgett tallied five rebounds and three steals next to her 16 points. Then after Gose's nine, Malarie Tallent came next in the scoring column for Milligan with seven points, three rebounds and two assists.
Three players from Brenau made it to double figures, led by Ashanti Brown who scored 14 points with seven rebounds off the bench.

Milligan hits the road for one game next week before returning to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Dec. 4, for a women and men's doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. The Buffs will face Kentucky Christian University in the first of three remaining home games on the 2019 portion of the schedule.
