Softball closes home schedule with a pair of losses
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 21, 2024) - Milligan University softball played its final home games of the season on Sunday, but visiting Union Commonwealth University (Ky.) spoiled the party by taking the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) doubleheader.

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 21, 2024) - Milligan University softball played its final home games of the season on Sunday, but visiting Union Commonwealth University (Ky.) spoiled the party by taking the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) doubleheader.
The Buffaloes fall to 12-23 overall and 10-16 in conference play.
Milligan closes out the regular season Wednesday at Columbia International University (S.C.). First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
Game 1 - Union 7, Milligan 6 (10 innings)
Milligan appeared to be on its way to victory before a late rally by Union reversed its fortunes.
Layney Loyd drove in a run in the first and third innings to give Milligan a 2-0 lead. Union scored in the fourth, but Alana Parsons launched a two-run home run for a 4-1 advantage as the game moved to the seventh.
However, the Bulldogs got a three-run home run to even the ledger and force extra innings.
The game remained knotted at 4-all until the 10th when Union registered another three-run rally. Alexis Brown belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame, but the Buffs could not find the equalizer.
Maggie Johnson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Parsons finished 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Game 2 - Union 7, Milligan 1
Johnson continued her hot hitting in the finale, going 3-for-4 as she had half of the Buffs' hits. However, Milligan struggled to produce runs as it fell 7-1.
