Softball crowns Knights for doubleheader sweep
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 24, 2024) - Milligan University softball put on a pitching and hitting clinic on Sunday as it swept visiting St. Andrews University (N.C.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 24, 2024) - Milligan University softball put on a pitching and hitting clinic on Sunday as it swept visiting St. Andrews University (N.C.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.
The Buffaloes won the opener 16-0 in five innings before taking the finale 10-2 in six innings.
With the wins, Milligan improves to 9-12 overall and 7-7 in conference play.
The Buffaloes return to action on Wednesday when they play at Montreat College (N.C.) for an AAC doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
Game 1 - Milligan 16, St. Andrews 0 (5 innings)
Milligan pounded 18 hits and pushed 16 runs across as it rolled to the easy win in the opener.
Alexis Brown highlighted the Buffs' offensive tenacity in going 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and five RBI. Morgan Lawson and Layney Loyd each had three hits and two RBI, while Alana Parsons and Mia Grassee had two hits apiece along with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Bree Presnell put on a show in the circle for Milligan, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks with six strikeouts. The sophomore hurler faced only 16 batters and needed only 54 pitches to get the win.
Game 2 - Milligan 10, St. Andrews 2 (6 innings)
Katelin Secrist took care of matters at the plate and in the circle as Milligan completed the doubleheader sweep.
At the plate, Secrist went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Meanwhile, she went the distance in the circle and allowed two earned runs on three hits and no walks. Secrist was efficient in the circle, needing only 62 pitches to log the win.
