Softball collects 14 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 1, 2023) – The Milligan University softball team had 14 players tabbed as All-America Scholar-Athletes by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Tuesday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 1, 2023) – The Milligan University softball team had 14 players tabbed as All-America Scholar-Athletes by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Tuesday.
In order to earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete status, a player must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average or better during the 2022-23 academic year. Milligan's honorees were Alexis Brown, Bailey Cantrell, Marissa Casstevens, Katie Cronin, Erin Forgety, Allee Griffith, Maggie Johnson, Grace Jones, Layney Loyd, Miranda Millington, Kate Pendleton, Stephanie Steele, Hadley York and Wheatley York.
Cronin and Pendleton both earned first team Academic All-America® honors from College Sports Communicators earlier this summer. Cronin became the third two-time Academic All-American in Milligan University history.
The Buffs boasted a team GPA of 3.39 for the 2022-23 academic year, ranking No. 26 nationally among NAIA programs. Milligan went 21-14 and earned a spot in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament in 2022.
