Cronin wins All-Region first team selection
Katie Cronin of the Milligan University softball team has been selected as an NAIA/NFCA Region I All-Region honoree following her stellar season, the NFCA announced Friday afternoon.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (May 28, 2021) – Katie Cronin of the Milligan University softball team has been selected as an NAIA/NFCA Region I All-Region honoree following her stellar season, the NFCA announced Friday afternoon.
Cronin was the nation's hitting leader nearly all season long, finishing 70-for-135 for a .519 average. She ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in batting average and No. 2 in hits per game at the end of the season. Cronin also set the Milligan record for single-season batting average, besting the previous mark of .495 set by Kathy Martinelli in 1991.
Cronin's efforts helped Milligan (32-9) win the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season for the first time since 2012, advance to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round for the third time in the last five seasons, and qualify for the World Series for the first time in program history.
