MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 19, 2021) – Katie Cronin and Erin Forgety have been selected as Appalachian Athletic Conference softball hitter and pitcher of the week for their efforts in leading Milligan University to another successful week last week. The AAC made the announcement Monday for the week ending April 18.
Cronin and Forgety both won for the second time in their career, each following a previous win of the award this season. This is the first time this season Milligan swept the award, and the Buffaloes have now won it five times this season.
Cronin continued to reign supreme atop the NAIA's hitting category as she once again led Milligan at the plate. She went 8-for-8 in the midweek doubleheader, two wins over Tennessee Wesleyan, before adding three hits, including two doubles, against No. 15 Truett in Saturday's split.
Cronin is the NAIA hitting leader, both for average (.581) and hits per game (2.0). She has 21 multihit games in 31 games played, including five four-hit games.
Forgety led the Buffs inside the circle with three appearances and two wins. Two of those appearances and one of those wins came against the No. 15-ranked Bears as Forgety posted an ERA of 1.47 for the week.
Forgety ranks in the top 40 in the nation in four categories, most notably ERA (1.55) and opposing batting average (.207). She is 11-3 with 67 strikeouts on the year.
The Buffs play their regular-season finale today at 4 p.m. with a chance to secure the AAC title for the first time since 2012.
