COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 13, 2021) – After two close wins at Columbia, the Milligan University softball team won for the 11th straight time, 2-1 and 9-1, Saturday on the road.
The Buffaloes stayed perfect atop the Appalachian Athletic Conference at 13-1 (8-0 AAC), completing their fifth straight sweep and sixth sweep of the season.
Cloee-Anna Merritt fired a complete game in the first game of the twin bill, allowing only one run after Milligan had taken a 2-0 lead. She earned the win to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Erin Forgety made the start in game two and pitched a similar game, allowing only one unearned run. She earned the win to improve to 3-0. Game two, in fact, stayed close at 3-1 until a six-run seventh helped the Buffs pull away. Kendyl McCollister closed the final frame with a scoreless seventh.
Up next, Milligan stays on the road for the next eight games, starting with Union on Wednesday, March 17, beginning at 1 p.m. The next home game for the Buffs is set for Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m.
