Holly picks up win 900 in Buffs sweep of Columbia
Head Milligan College softball coach Wes Holly won his 900th career game Sunday afternoon in game one of the Buffs’ doubleheader against Columbia College. Milligan then went on to win game two to complete the Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep. Milligan was able to score 12 runs combined with a 6-4 score in game one and 6-0 score in game two.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 8, 2020) – Head Milligan College softball coach Wes Holly won his 900th career game Sunday afternoon in game one of the Buffs' doubleheader against Columbia College. Milligan then went on to win game two to complete the Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep. Milligan was able to score 12 runs combined with a 6-4 score in game one and 6-0 score in game two.
"It is very gratifying as a coach to reach this milestone," Holly said. "It all goes back to the players though and their effort over the years to get 900 wins. I am very proud of the players and the program."

Milligan produced 17 hits in their game one win to help Holly achieve his milestone achievement. Juniors Lainey Mays and Neelee Griffith went 3-for-4 with Mays accounting for one RBI and Griffith having two. Freshman Kate Pendleton went 3-for-4 as well with an RBI to add.
Mays started game one and went five innings, giving up one run, two walks and striking out three. Kendyl McCollister got the save going two innings, giving up three runs, two unearned and striking out two.
Game two | Milligan 6, Columbia 0
In game two, Erin Forgety threw a complete game shutout, going all seven innings, giving up five hits, one walk and striking out nine. Milligan scored six runs on seven hits with Mays going 3-for-4 and Grace Jones going 2-for-3.

With Sunday's win, the Buffs advance to 3-3 (2-2 AAC) overall. Milligan will stay in Columbia for another AAC doubleheader against Allen University on Monday, March 9.
