Will Stockley honored as M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week
NEW ORLEANS (October 11, 2023) – Milligan University graduate student Will Stockley was honored as the M-F Athletic and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Men’s National Athlete of Week for his performance at the Royals Cross Country Challenge last week.
NEW ORLEANS (October 11, 2023) – Milligan University graduate student Will Stockley was honored as the M-F Athletic and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Men's National Athlete of Week for his performance at the Royals Cross Country Challenge last week.
Stockley earned his first collegiate cross country victory at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte with an 8k effort of 24:30. He topped a 275-man field that included five NCAA Division I teams, Division II No. 3 Wingate and NAIA No. 7 Cumberlands.
The Buffs topped the 30-team standings with a team score of 52 points. Aaron Jones finished third in 24:38 and Bryn Woodall followed in sixth in 24:51. Zimri Kuhn placed 23rd in 25:20 and freshman Bryson Lewis rounded out Milligan's top five in 35th (25:38).
Stockley is the first Milligan men's cross country runner to collect M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week honors in program history.
The Buffs head to Knoxville for the NAIA Appalachian Challenge next week.
