MILLIGAN, Tenn. (September 22, 2023) – The No. 2 Milligan University men's cross country team hosted the Eli Cramer Invitational at the M Training Loop on Friday evening. Zimri Kuhn took the individual title with a meet-record time.
"Obviously this is such a special race for our program and to be able to honor Eli with two exciting races in front of his family and a home crowd made for a great afternoon on the M loop," said head coach Chris Layne.
Kuhn improved upon his own meet record with a three-mile time of 15:11 to take the win by five seconds. Classmate Alex Brittain was the runner-up in 15:16.
Josh Hale ran 15:46 to finish ninth and Arran Kearney made his season debut with an 11th-place showing (15:50).
Freshmen Ethan Lanning (16th, 16:00), Tate Bowland (17th, 16:04) and Daniel Martin (17th, 16:11) completed Milligan's top seven.
"This group are just so much fun to coach," said Layne. "You give them a plan and they go after it. Really thought the women did a nice job of working together up front and then on the men's side it was important to step down and get a quicker rep for some of our younger guys. The one thing we're getting from this group every time the lineup is a lot of fight."
The Buffs finished second of three teams at the meet as Lincoln Memorial edged Milligan by three points in the team standings.
The Buffs head to Charlotte for the Royals Cross Country Challenge in two weeks.
