Historic win for men's volleyball ends season
The Milligan men's volleyball team wrapped up its home season with a historic 3-0 win over the University of Tennessee club team on senior day.

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (April 12, 2017)- The Milligan College men's volleyball team wrapped up its home season with a historic 3-0 win over the University of Tennessee club team on senior day.
The Buffs were led by seniors Jacob Smith, Nathan Gibson, Joshua Foote and Hobie Vannoy. Smith led the way with 16 kills and six digs. Gibson followed with 14 kills and nine digs. Foote finished the night with six kills and three block assists, and Vannoy led the offense with 38 assists and six digs.
Freshman libero Dalton Smith anchored the defense with 18 digs and three aces. Strong shows from Drew Doehring, who finished with six kills and two blocks, and Gerald Moore, who had three kills and two blocks, helped the Buffs sweep the Volunteers in three.
"We are so thankful for these guys and their loyalty and dedication to the program," head coach Doneva Bays said about the seniors. "They have built a strong foundation for men's volleyball at Milligan College."
J. Smith finished his career as Buffalo ranked third in career kills and fifth in career digs. He recorded a career-high of 21 kills and 16 digs in one match in his final season.
Foote ended his career at Milligan ranked second in aces, third in digs, and fourth in career kills. Foote recorded a season-high of six kills, seven digs, and three aces in a match this season.
Four-year starting setter, Vannoy finished his career as the all-time assist leader, recording over 800 assists over his career, and a season-high of 49 assists and 10 digs in one match. Vannoy ranks second in all-time digs at Milligan, and leads the team with 20 aces.
The very first men's volleyball signee, Gibson ended his career as the all-time kill leader with over 300 kills and all-time dig leader with 180 in four years. Gibson also leads the program in blocks with a total of 35, and recorded a season high of 17 kills and 17 digs in a match in his final season.
All four seniors will graduate with honors in May.
