Men's volleyball gets second straight sweep, fourth straight win
The Milligan College men's volleyball team used a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 28-26, 25-17) to take down Bryan College for the second time this season, earning its second straight sweep of the season after beating Bluefield College for its second straight home win last week.
Tuesday's victory, when combined with Milligan's previous win over Bluefield and two wins in the Silver Division bracket of the UT Bud Fields Tournament, marked the Buffaloes fourth straight victory overall. Additionally, the Buffs extended their set winning streak to 11 sets.
Jacob Smith led Milligan with 16 kills, two service aces and five digs. Nathan Gibson added 13 kills, eight digs and two blocks, and Hobie Vannoy dished out an impressive 30 assists in only three sets, while adding 10 digs and an ace.
Andrew Simson led the defense with a team-high 12 digs, Luke Dove was a man of twos, collecting two kills, two digs and two blocks, while Joshua Foote was a man of fours, finishing with four kills and four digs. Foote also added an assist and an ace.
Next up, the Buffs will play in their final home match of the season as they go for a perfect 3-0 mark at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Milligan hosts the University of Tennessee on Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m.
