Men's volleyball wins second straight home game, extends set winning streak to eight
One week after winning its first home game and four days after winning six of 10 games at the UT Buds Fields Tournament, the Milligan College men's volleyball cruised to a three-set (25-18, 25-15, 25-13) win over Bluefield College Wednesday night at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
The Buffaloes finished with a .300 attack percentage, and were led by Nathan Gibson with nine kills, Jacob Smith with five and Joshua Foote with four. Foote also had four of Milligan's eight service aces, was second on the squad with five digs, and joined Hobie Vannoy with both a solo block and a block assist. Vannoy dished out 18 assists.
The Buffs defense was paced by Andrew Simonsen and Gibson with six digs apiece, while Drew Doehring added two block assists.
Milligan closed the first two sets on 10-4 and 11-3 runs, respectively, and then raced out to a 10-2 advantage in the third and never looked back.
Next up, Milligan battles the Lions of Bryan College for the middle time of three matchups this season on Tuesday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. in Dayton, Tennessee, and then returns to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for the Buffs final home game, where the Buffs will look to go 3-0 on the year. Milligan hosts the University of Tennessee on Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m.
