Milligan XC/TF Programs Both Sit in Top 10 of USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings
NEW ORLEANS, La. - On Tuesday, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) unveiled their mid-year Program of the Year standings update. With the publication, the Buffs men's XC/TF program is at No. 2, and the Milligan women are in the No. 8 spot with the outdoor season ahead.
In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for the NAIA Championships in each of the cross country, indoor and outdoor seasons. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each of those championships (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner. Ties among schools split points for positions taken.
The Milligan men have posted a runner-up finish during the cross country season, coupled with a fifth-place showing in the indoor campaign to add up to seven POY points, earning the second spot. The MU women notched a fourth-place showing in XC and a No. 23 finish in the indoor championships, totaling 27.5 POY points to place them eighth overall.
