Outdoor Track & Field tunes up for AAC Champs at Electric City Invitational
ANDERSON, S.C. (April 15, 2023) – The Milligan University outdoor track & field teams had a small number of student-athletes compete at the Electric City Invitational on Friday and Saturday in the Buffs’ final meet before next week’s Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

(April 15, 2023) – The Milligan University outdoor track & field teams had a small number of student-athletes compete at the Electric City Invitational on Friday and Saturday in the Buffs' final meet before next week's Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
"Just a really good weekend across the board with a collection of season bests, personal bests and a number of important AAC qualifiers," said head coach Chris Layne.
Aaron Jones was Milligan's top-placing athlete at the meet as he ran to a runner-up finish in the 1500 in 3:57.06. Sam Sosebee hit the conference standard in the 1500 in 4:13.43.
Halie Hawkins finished fifth in the pole vault and matched her personal record by clearing 3.25 meters.
Joel Duzan was sixth in the men's javelin with a mark of 43.61 meters. Ellie Ayers was a conference qualifier in the discus at 29.36 meters. Kacey Webb posted a personal best and conference mark in the hammer throw at 33.90 meters. Iliana Martinez notched a season best toss in the javelin at 20.31 meters.
Scarlett Zeoli and Autumn Stanley both qualified for the conference championship meet in the long jump. Zeoli left 4.78 meters and Stanley posted a mark of 4.70 meters.
Milligan heads to the AAC Championships at Montreat on Friday and Saturday next week.
