WALESKA, Ga. (April 10, 2023) – Milligan University runners Bryn Woodall and Alyssa Bearzi were announced as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Both runners posted national No. 1 times in their respective events despite rainy conditions at the Lee Flames Invitational on Friday evening.
Woodall topped a 117-man 5k field that featured runners from NCAA Division I and Division II, including Georgia Tech, Belmond, Queens, Wingate and Lee. He set Milligan's 5k school record and ran the fastest time in the NAIA this season with an effort of 14:00.11.
Later that evening, Bearzi ran the NAIA's fastest time in the 10k, crossing fifth in a 47-woman field in 35:39.90. Her time is the second-fastest in Milligan University history, only behind NAIA all-time record holder Emily Kearney.
Both Woodall and Bearzi claimed NAIA indoor national titles earlier this year. Woodall claimed the 3k crown while Bearzi was the NAIA's 5k champion.
