GULF SHORES, Ala. (May 27, 2022) – Will Stockley and Aaron Jones claimed All-America honors as the Milligan University outdoor track team concluded its run at the 2022 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Stockley took All-American laurels in the 1500 as he posted a fifth-place finish in 3:53.73.
Jones battled to a seventh-place finish in the men's 5k final with a time of 14:58.64. Bryn Woodall finished 19th in 16:01.27.
Stockley and Jones joined Milligan greats Philip Rotich, Hannah Segrave, Nathan Baker and Tim Thacker as the only student-athletes in program history to earn All-America honors in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track in the same season.
Avery DeWolf Burton placed 13th in the women's 5k final in 18:23.74. She closes her Milligan career as a six-time All-American. She finished 12th in the 5k at last year's NAIA National Championships.
Evan Henson began the day with a top-10 national finish in the half marathon. He posted a personal best time of 71:44 to finish ninth, a single place outside of All-America status. It's his highest individual national finish as he was 13th in the marathon at the NAIA National Championships last spring.
"When you look at where we came in and where we finished, it's hard to not leave here feeling good about things," said head coach Chris Layne. "Our young folks were definitely feeling the effects of a long year, but they never quit. What an incredible year for Avery - a lot of pride in what she accomplished during her time at Milligan, and Will and Aaron completing the All-American triple was pretty special."
