"Indoors is always fast and intense, so I'm glad we're starting 2025 on a strong note by competing in December," said Layne. "This will help us prepare for the championship part of the season, which will be here before we know it."
Milligan began with the Ben Martin First Chance and the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-off, on Dec. 4 and 7 as tuneups for the upcoming indoor campaigns. The Buffs men posted a team win and the women placed second at the Ben Martin First Chance in Oak Ridge, Tenn., while the squads posted school records and several national qualifiers at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-off.
On Jan. 17-18 the teams look forward to competing at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., where they will face off with many NCAA Division I opponents. On the 18th, they will send a majority of their athletes to the Mondo College Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., as well.
The VMI Invitational is next on the list for the squads, as they head to Lexington, Va., where they yet again battle with several DI opponents as the season progresses.
Following the trip to Lexington, Milligan heads to the Bast-Cregger Invitational in Salem, Va., hosted by Roanoke College. That event on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 will represent the final stop before the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships a week-and-a-half later on Feb. 10-11 in Winston-Salem.
Another one-day event in Salem, the Joe LaRocco Invitational, is hosted by Roanoke College on Feb. 15, as a sort of last chance for qualifications for nationals.
Lastly, the season concludes with the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Gainesville, Fla. from Feb. 27-Mar. 1.
