NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 10, 2024) – The Milligan University indoor track and field team had three individuals compete and achieve automatic national qualifying standards at the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Bryn Woodall ran the NAIA "A" standard in the 3k as he finished eighth in heat one in 8:21.03. In the 66-man field that featured NCAA Division I runners from the AAC and SEC, he placed 13th overall.
Keith Fletcher advanced out of prelims and narrowly missed out on advancing out of the first round as he ran 8.12 to finish second in heat four, one spot out of advancing. His time met the NAIA "A" standard and was a personal best.
Caitlin Dominy ran 9:51.55 in the 3k to finish 22nd in the seeded 3k against primarily NCAA Division I runners from the SEC and ACC. Her time met the NAIA automatic national qualifying standard.
"Keith had a nice weekend with two PB's, holding his own in a really competitive environment," said head coach Chris Layne. "We were probably hoping for a little more out of the distance side but this is a talented group and they'll gain a lot from this and I have no doubt they'll be ready to go at AAC's."
The Buffs compete at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 15-16.
