Five Men’s Track/Cross Country student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors
AUSTIN, Texas (May 31, 2023) – Five Milligan University men’s cross country and track & field student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
AUSTIN, Texas (May 31, 2023) – Five Milligan University men's cross country and track & field student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday.
Rising senior Aaron Jones, graduate student Will Stockley and 2023 graduates Jake Crow, Evan Henson and Pablo Rivas each secured Academic All-District status for the first time in their careers.
Jones is a history and humanities major with a 3.57 cumulative grade-point average. He was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's (AAC) John Sullivan Male Student-Athlete of Character, USTFCCCA National Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the AAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2022-23. Jones won his first individual national title in March when he took the men's indoor 5k crown with a school record time of 14:26.68.
Jones completed an All-America triple crown year in 2022-23 as he finished fourth at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships and placed third in the 10k at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship. Jones is a seven-time All-American and has earned All-America honors at each of the last six NAIA track and cross country national championship meet.
Stockley is a 4.0 student who is pursing a Master of Arts in Humanities. He has achieved All-America honors in all six NAIA National Championships he has appeared in the last two seasons. He placed ninth at the NAIA Cross Country National Championship, fourth in the mile at the NAIA Indoor National Championships and sixth in the 5k at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. Stockley is a two-time AAC cross country runner-up and was honored as the 2022 AAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and 2022 AAC Outdoor Newcomer of the Year.
Crow graduated as a double major in computer science and information systems with a 3.97 GPA. Crow earned All-America honors with a 38th-place finish at the NAIA Cross Country National Championship in November. He ran No. 5 on Milligan's NAIA national championship-winning cross country team in 2021. Crow also earned individual All-America honors in 2021 when he finished eighth in the indoor 3k. He was a three-time All-AAC cross country runner.
Henson graduated with a degree in information systems with a 3.81 GPA. He was a three-time individual national qualifier with the Buffs and finished ninth in the half marathon at the 2022 NAIA National Championships and was 13th in the marathon in 2021.
Rivas earned his MBA with a 3.86 GPA in 2022-23. He was a two-time national championship participant in cross country and finished 17th in the 3k at the 2022 NAIA Indoor National Championships. He placed as the AAC runner-up in the steeplechase last spring.
CSC's Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performance. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
