Indoor Track sending 19 national qualifiers to NAIA National Championships
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 24, 2023) – Milligan University’s indoor track & field teams had 19 student-athletes qualify for the NAIA National Indoor Track & Field National Championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D. March 2-4.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (February 24, 2023) – Milligan University's indoor track & field teams had 19 student-athletes qualify for the NAIA National Indoor Track & Field National Championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D. March 2-4.
The Buffs are sending a dozen men and seven women to compete in eight individual events and two relays. The Buffs qualified for both men's and women's distance medley relays, three individual women's events and five men's championship events.
Heading into the national championship meet, Milligan has student-athletes or relays seeded in the top five in nine different events. The Buffs' men were ranked No. 4 in the final in-season edition of the USTFCCCA NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index and No. 6 in the final women's ratings.
Bryn Woodall carries the top overall seed in the men's 3k (8:08.79c). Will Stockley is seeded second in the mile. Aaron Jones (5k) and Sylas Chambers (1k) are seeded third in each of their events and the Buffs' men's distance medley relay is ranked fifth heading into the meet.
Caitlin Dominy (3k) and Alyssa Bearzi (5k) carry No. 2 seeds in their respective events into the national championship meet, as well as the Buffs' distance medley relay. Ellen Mary Kearney is seeded third in the mile.
Last winter, Milligan had 11 student-athletes combine for seven All-America honors at the 2022 NAIA National Championships. The Buffs notched a top-10 national finish in the men's team standings for the third-straight year.
