Bryn Woodall and Ellen Mary Kearney honored as AAC Indoor Track Athletes of the Week
WALESKA, Ga. (January 23, 2023) – Milligan University sophomore Bryn Woodall and freshman Ellen Mary Kearney were honored as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Track Athletes of the Week on Monday.
WALESKA, Ga. (January 23, 2023) – Milligan University sophomore Bryn Woodall and freshman Ellen Mary Kearney were honored as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Indoor Track Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Woodall ran to his second national No. 1 mark of the season at the COROS Collegiate Challenge at the JDL Fast Track on Sunday. He ran 2:28.60 to win the men's 1k in a 21-man field. His time stands as a meet record and his converted mark of 2:26.58 tops the national leaderboard for the 2022-23 campaign.
Woodall also ran alongside Mikel Valladares, Aaron Vaughn and Samir Koko in the meet's winning 4x800 meter relay. The Buffs' time of 8:06.48 edged the University of the Cumberlands to take the meet title. Milligan's converted time of 7:59.62 is second nationally and tops in the AAC.
Woodall has recorded NAIA "A" cuts and national top-three times in three different events this season. He also owns the No. 1 mark in the 3k (8:08.79) and the No. 3 5k (14:23.95).
Kearney recorded her second NAIA "A" standard of the season as she set the meet record and took the meet title in the women's 1k at the COROS Collegiate Challenge at the JDL Fast Track on Sunday. Her time of 2:58.94 topped the 20-woman field and her converted mark of 2:57.01 ranks sixth nationally.
Kearney also owns an NAIA "A" cut and No. 3 time nationally in the 3k (9:55.23) and is a national qualifier and No. 5 on the NAIA leaderboards in the 5k (17:27.59).
