Track & Field returns to ETSU for Buccaneer Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (February 4, 2022) – A small contingent of the Milligan University track and field teams posted several seasonal and personal bests at the Buccaneer Invitational on Friday.

Keith Fletcher logged yet another personal best in 2021-22 with an 8.97 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 11th.

In the women's 400, Kiley Wood and Megan Christian both posted top-16 finishes in a 55-woman field. Wood ran 1:01.84, a season-best, and Christian posted a 1:02.18, her top indoor time in the event. In the 200, Christian added another indoor-best time (27.33) and Wood ran 27.68 for her top time of the season.

Corey Greeson and Kade Hoilman both posted career highs in the weight throw. Greeson threw 13.31 meters and Hoilman tossed 12.46 meters. Both throwers' results climb into potential scoring position for the upcoming Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) championships.

In the women's weight throw, Ellie Ayers notched a top throw of 11.20 meters. Iliana Martinez threw 8.47 meters.

In the men's 60 meter dash, Kamdyn Lee ran 7.38 and Nicolas Motau finished in 7.44 seconds. In the 200, Fletcher recorded a 23.70 and Motau ran 25.21.

In the long jump, Lee recorded a leap of 6.03 meters and Blake Fauver went 5.35 meters.

Camila Rivas ran 21:29.49 in the 5k in her first performance in the event this season. Eli Hornbuckle ran a lifetime best (17:47.84) and was joined by Evan Spaulding (18:15.20) as the duo made their collegiate debut in the indoor 5k.

"We saw a number of season best and personal best performances today so this was a great way to kick-off the weekend," said head coach Chris Laye. "Our throws group continues to stand out as they keep taking steps and that's exciting to see as we close in on the AAC Champs."
