Thacker wins AAC weekly honor alongside No. 1 national marks
Milligan University senior Tim Thacker ran the nation’s No. 1 time in the 1000 meters, winning him Appalachian Athletic Conference men’s indoor track athlete of the week for the second week in a row. The AAC made the announcement Monday afternoon for the week ending Feb. 7.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2021) – Milligan University senior Tim Thacker ran the nation's No. 1 time in the 1000 meters, winning him Appalachian Athletic Conference men's indoor track athlete of the week for the second week in a row. The AAC made the announcement Monday afternoon for the week ending Feb. 7.
This marked Thacker's seventh career AAC weekly honor and third of this year.
Thacker led the No. 17 Buffs with a pair of top-two finishes last week at Columbia International's Rams February Invite. He won the 1k with the NAIA's top mark of 2:25.57, also representing the 11th-fastest time among all collegiate runners.
The next day, Thacker earned a runner-up finish as the top collegian in the 3k, notching a personal best and the No. 20 NAIA time of 8:40.68.
In addition to the No. 1 1k time, Thacker holds the NAIA's top time in the mile with a time of 4:09.75. He also ranks No. 5 in the 5k (14:45.79) and No. 11 in the 800 (1:54.85).
Thacker and the No. 17 Milligan men will hit the track one more time this indoor season prior to the championship portion of the season. Up next will be the VMI Classic, scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Feb. 12-13.
