Thacker earns third AAC athlete of the week of season
After competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships and winning AAC male athlete of the year, junior Tim Thacker earned his third AAC athlete of the week honor of the season. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the league office.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2020) – After competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships and winning AAC male athlete of the year, junior Tim Thacker earned his third AAC athlete of the week honor of the season. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the league office.
Thacker was the AAC champion in the 1k, 800 meters and mile. He set AAC records in the 800 and mile and also ran the fastest time in the NAIA in the 800. His marks in the 1k and mile he bettered the NAIA's No. 6 time and No. 9 time, respectively. In all three races, Thacker faced numerous national qualifiers, including NAIA No. 1 ranked Moses Dirane in both the 1k and mile.
Thacker helped the No. 14 men secure a runner-up finish at the AAC Championships and was responsible for three of the 13 conference titles that were obtained this weekend by Milligan. The team set five AAC records with Thacker having two of the five.
Thacker and the rest of the national qualifiers will begin preparing for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, set for Thursday-Saturday, March 5-7, in Brookings, South Dakota.
