PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Milligan University's men's and women's tennis teams battled with the University of Pikeville Bears on Thursday evening, as the MU women fell to UPIKE, and the men upset the No. 22-ranked Bears, 4-3.

The men's squad had three singles wins, as Michal Curlej notched a 6-0, 7-6 (1) win in the third singles matchup. In the fourth singles match, Martin Mercarder won the battle 6-3, 6-1 for the Buffs' second singles point. Thiago Petry's win in the No. 5 singles match, 6-3, 6-1, was the final tally for Milligan in singles.

In doubles, MU won the point via triumphs by Curlej and Ryan Thomas (6-2), as well as Petry and Marcos Moreno (6-3). With the doubles point, the Buffaloes clinched a win over the No. 22-ranked team in the NAIA.

For the women, it was singles matchup No. 2 that saw Sophie Dunman work a 6-3, 6-3 triumph.

The two squads' matches on Friday against Methodist have been cancelled, meaning that the next time they will be on the courts will be Saturday, Apr. 5, which is Senior Day for the two Milligan squads.
