Milligan Men's and Women's Tennis Fall to William Carey at Tri-Conference Challenge

MOBILE, Ala. - On Thursday, the Milligan University men's and women's tennis squads began their foray into the Tri-Conference Challenge in Mobile, Ala. against nationally-ranked William Carey University on both sides. Both matches went the way of the Crusaders, 4-0.

The men played in the morning, and had three singles matches count toward the final 4-0 score. The No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 matchups went the way of William Carey. Thiago Petry fell 6-3, 6-1, while Martin Mercarder dropped his match 6-1, 6-1. Lastly, Marcos Moreno lost by a final of 6-0, 6-2. Tomas Tenil was the lone Buff to win a set against his opponent, but his battle did not end prior to the three Milligan losses.

Petry and Moreno dropped their doubles match 6-4, and Brayden Kennedy and Gonzaga Lafarga dropped theirs 6-1.

Lee Ann Endler and Marta Miralles dropped their doubles tilt by a final of 6-3 on the women's side. Also, Trinity Fox and Lauren Wimmer fell by a score of 6-2.

In singles competition, the decisions came from the last three matches, as Wimmer (6-0, 6-1), Tiana Shelton (6-1, 6-0) and Fox (6-1, 6-0) dropped those matchups.

The two squads will return tomorrow for matches against Middle Georgia State, with the men starting at 10 a.m. and the women beginning at 2 p.m.
