Milligan (RV) Men's and Women's Tennis Dismantle Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. – This past weekend, the Milligan University men's and women's tennis squads both opened their competition seasons in the fall of 2024 with triumphs over NCAA Division II Emory & Henry.

The (RV) men's team snatched a 4-1 triumph, while the women became a 4-2 victor.

A trio of men's singles players nabbed triumphs, as Gonzaga Lafarga, Tomas Tenil and Marcos Moreno earned simple two-set victories.

A pair of other matches that were near completion ended due to rain. Martin Mercarder was one game away from a 6-3, 6-3 win in his singles tilt, as he finished ahead 6-3, 5-3.

In doubles, Ryan Thomas and Michal Curlej dominated with a 6-0 win in the No. 1 doubles match. Then, Tenil and Moreno took care of business in the No. 2 matchup to win 6-4 and obtain the doubles point for Milligan.

For the women, singles wins from the No. 2-No. 4 courts by Lauren Wimmer (6-3, 6-3), Marta Miralles (6-1, 6-3) and Tiana Shelton (6-0, 6-2) earned three points for the Buffs.

On the doubles courts, Lee Anne Endler and Shelton won 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles bout, while Wimmer and Trinity Fox teamed up to win 6-2 on doubles court No. 3 to snatch the two wins needed to earn the point in doubles.
