Women’s Tennis takes down (RV) Cumberland
HARROGATE, Tenn. (February 17, 2024) – The Milligan University women’s tennis team knocked off (RV) Cumberland at the Lincoln Memorial Indoor Tennis facility on Saturday.
HARROGATE, Tenn. (February 17, 2024) – The Milligan University women's tennis team knocked off (RV) Cumberland at the Lincoln Memorial Indoor Tennis facility on Saturday.
The Milligan men's and women's tennis teams squared off with Lincoln Memorial and Cumberland on Saturday. Both squads fell to Lincoln Memorial 7-0 while the women defeated Cumberland 4-3 and the men fell to the No. 14 Phoenix 5-2.
The Buffs took the doubles point in the women's match against Cumberland with Sophie Dunman and Kylie Enarson notching a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Marta Miralles and Macy Kennedy triumphing 6-3 at second doubles.
Mirales, Enarson and Dunman each picked up singles wins to knock off the Phoenix. Miralles earned a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Enarson earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles and Dunman took a 6-2, 6-0 win at fourth singles. Kenney went three sets at No. 3 singles but fell 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
In the men's matchup against Cumberland, Stefan Macheiner earned a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win at first singles. Gonzaga Lafarga took a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles. Thiago Petry went three sets but lost in a tiebreaker on the third set at No. 2 singles (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (2)).
Ryan Thomas and Nathan Smiley battled at first singles but fell 6-4.
The Buffs host a pair of top-five ranked Tennessee Wesleyan squads to open Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play on Thursday at the Mathes Tennis Cener at 1:00 p.m.
