Men’s Tennis downs E&H in fall match

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (September 15, 2023) – The Milligan University tennis teams hosted Emory & Henry in nonconference action on Friday at the Mathes Tennis Center. The Buffs won the men's match 5-2 and fell to the Wasps 5-2 in the women's match.

Milligan's men sit at 2-0 on the season while the Buffs' women move to 1-1.

The Buffs took all three doubles flights in the men's match. Kevin Bollmann and Gonzaga Lafarga took No. 1 doubles 7-6 (10-3). Stefan Macheiner and Marcos Moreno took second doubles (6-3) and Nathan Smiley and Justin Rigsby opened the match with a 6-1 result at No. 3 doubles.

Macheiner (6-3, 6-4) and Lafarga (6-2, 6-3) won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Moreno took a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and Smiley triumphed 6-2, 6-3 at sixth singles.

In the women's match, Kylie Enarson battled back to win at No. 1 singles 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. Lauren Wimmer earned a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. Tiana Shelton and Trinity Fox both fell in third set super tiebreakers in the fourth and sixth singles flights.

Milligan heads to ITA Regionals next week.
