Men’s and Women’s Tennis defeat Johnson 7-0
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 29, 2023) – The Milligan University men’s and women’s tennis teams both picked up 7-0 wins at Johnson (Tenn.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action on Wednesday.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 29, 2023) – The Milligan University men's and women's tennis teams both picked up 7-0 wins at Johnson (Tenn.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action on Wednesday.
The Buffs move to 9-10 on the men's side with a 5-3 AAC mark. Milligan women's tennis rises to 8-8, 4-3 AAC. The match had originally been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Mathes Tennis Center but was rained out and rescheduled for Wednesday at Johnson.
The Buffs cruised through doubles play, dropping just a single set in each match.
Nathan Smiley and Marcos Moreno won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and Justin Rigsby and Krishan Taneja won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles. Derian Janeke and Ryan Thomas earned a 6-1 at second doubles.
Camryn Rossa and Kaitlin Barrett took a 6-0 win at top doubles as did Tiana Shelton and Sophie Dunman at third doubles. Kylie Enarson and Macy Kennedy won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Taneja won at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0), Carter Rigsby triumphed at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-2), Gabrijel Kajic took No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0), Ryan Thomas won at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-0) and Moreno (No. 5) and Janeke (No. 6) each won 6-0, 6-0.
Barrett took a 6-2, 6-1 win at top singles. Rossa won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 signles. Dunman at third singles and Heather Graf at fourth singles won in straight sets. Kenney was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 4 singles and Makenna Peterson was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 6 singles.
