Women’s Tennis edges (RV) Reinhardt in AAC match
WALESKA, Ga. (March 28, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to Georgia to take on Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Reinhardt on Monday afternoon. Milligan’s women defeated Reinhardt 4-3 while the men fell to the No. 22 Eagles 6-1.
WALESKA, Ga. (March 28, 2022) – The Milligan University men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Georgia to take on Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Reinhardt on Monday afternoon. Milligan's women defeated Reinhardt 4-3 while the men fell to the No. 22 Eagles 6-1.
Milligan's women notched their second win over a team receiving votes in the top 25 this season. The women rise to 11-6 on the year and 3-4 in AAC play. Reinhardt's women fall to 1-6, 1-3 AAC. Milligan's men fall to 10-6, 2-4 AAC while Reinhardt moves to 2-4, 2-1 AAC.
Milligan earned the doubles point in the women's match as No. 1 and No. 3 doubles emerged with victories. Kaitlin Barrett and Makenna Peterson took a 6-4 win at the top doubles spot and Macy Kennedy and Karson Light secured a 6-1 victory at third doubles. Kylie Enarson and Sophie Dunman were deadlocked 6-6 before abandoning the matchup with the team point clinched.
Barrett earned a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Enarson captured a point at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-0) and Dunman won in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
Kennedy battled to three sets before ultimately falling 6-1, 1-6, 1-6 at second singles.
In the men's matchup, Reinhardt took all three doubles tilts. Carter Rigsby and Marcos Moreno took a team-high five games but fell 7-5.
Ryan Thomas took the lone point of the day for Milligan men's tennis. He won 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 in a super tiebreaker. Moreno also reached a super tiebreaker, but fell at No. 3 doubles 3-6, 7-5, 5-10. Nathan Smiley won 10 games at No. 1 singles but was downed 6-7, 4-6.
Milligan closes out its regular season at the Mathes Tennis Center against Bluefield.
