Tennis falls to nationally-ranked TWU
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 15, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s and women’s tennis teams both dropped Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchups against nationally-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan squads at the Mathes Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 15, 2022) – The Milligan University men's and women's tennis teams both dropped Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchups against nationally-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan squads at the Mathes Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
TWU's men entered the matchup as the No. 3 team in the nation and with the No. 12 women's ranking. The Bulldogs logged 7-0 wins in both matches.
Sophie Dunman and Kylie Enarson combined for the Buffs' lone victory on the day. The duo secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Enarson at third singles and Hannah Nelson at No. 6 singles both went the distance in singles play but fell in super tiebreakers.
In the men's matchup, Derian Janeke and Nathan Smiley fell 6-3 at first doubles and Marcos Moreno and Carter Rigsby dropped No. 2 doubles 6-3. Janeke led the Buffs in singles play with six games won, but fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Milligan returns to action this weekend with trips to AAC foes Reinhardt and Point.
