Men’s and Women’s Tennis defeats Thomas More at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 8, 2022) – Milligan University's men's and women's tennis teams both scored victories over Thomas More on Tuesday afternoon in Hilton Head.

Milligan's men notched a 5-2 victory while the Buffs' women earned a 6-1 win. Milligan's men move to 8-2 on the year while Thomas More falls to 4-5-1. Milligan women's tennis rises to 7-3 while TMU falls to 4-5.

Carter Rigsby and Marcos Moreno battled to a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles and Justin Rigsby and Ryan Thomas earned a 6-3 decision at third doubles for the Buffs.

Milligan's men swept third-through sixth singles to clinch the match win. Moreno took third singles 7-5, 6-4. Derian Janeke triumphed in a super tiebreaker (7-6, 5-7, 10-2) at No. 4 singles. Justin Rigsby won 6-0, 6-3 and Ryan Thomas took a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth and sixth singles.

Kaitlin Barrett and Makenna Peterson combined for a 7-5 victory at first doubles while Macy Kennedy and Kylie Enarson secured a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point for Milligan.

Barrett scored a 7-5, 6-4 win in the top singles matchup. Kennedy won at No. 2 doubles 6-1, 6-3 and Enarson took third singles with a super tiebreaker 6-3, 6-3, 10-8. Sophie Dunman and Karson Light took fourth singles (6-2, 6-1) and fifth singles (7-5, 6-3), respectively.

The Buffs take on Morningside tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
