Men’s and Women’s Tennis begin spring break trip with 4-3 wins over Georgetown
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 7, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s and women’s tennis teams both notched 4-3 victories over Georgetown on Sunday morning to kick off the Buffs’ spring break trip at Hilton Head.

Ryan Thomas' victory at No. 6 singles and Karson Light's win at fifth singles propelled each of Milligan's teams to team wins in their spring break openers. Milligan's men moved to 7-2 on the season while the Buffs' women rose to 6-3. The Tigers' men and women fell to 4-5.
Milligan's men earned the doubles point with Marcos Moreno and Carter Rigsby taking No. 2 singles 6-2 and Thomas and Justin Rigsby combining for a 6-3 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Singles play was especially competitive as Derian Janeke and Thomas won with super tiebreakers at third and fifth signles. Janeke was victorious 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (6) and Thomas won 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (7). Carter Rigsby earned a win for Milligan at No. 2 single 7-6, 6-2. Moreno battled to a super tiebreaker but fell 12-10 after going 6-3, 3-6 in the first two sets.
Milligan's women swept through Georgetown in doubles action. Katlin Barrett and Makenna Peterson took No. 1 doubles 6-2, Macy Kennedy and Kylie Enarson swept second doubles and Hannah Nelson and Light won third doubles 6-1.
The Buffs won a No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles as Enarson won 6-2, 6-2, Sophie Dunman triumphed 6-2, 6-0 and Light clinched with win with a 6-1, 6-2 effort.
Milligan continues at the Spring Tennis Fest on Wednesday morning against Morningside.
