Men’s Tennis down Mars Hill 4-1 in fall finale
MARS HILL, N.C. (November 3, 2021) – The Milligan University men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up their fall slate with a road match at NCAA Division II Mars Hill on Wednesday. The Milligan men earned a 4-2 victory while the women fell 4-1.
MARS HILL, N.C. (November 3, 2021) – The Milligan University men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up their fall slate with a road match at NCAA Division II Mars Hill on Wednesday. The Milligan men earned a 4-2 victory while the women fell 4-1.
The Buffs took the first and third doubles flights to earn a team point via doubles play. Derian Janeke and Nathan Smiley combined for a 7-6 (10-8) win at No. 1 doubles and Justin Rigsby and Ryan Thomas earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Janeke rallied to a 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 comeback win at No. 3 singles. Rigsby and Thomas helped clinch the match with wins at fifth and sixth doubles respectively. Rigsby picked up a 6-2, 6-3 triumph while Thoams prevailed 6-0, 6-1.
Sophie Dunman earned the lone victory on the women's side at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-2).
Both Milligan tennis teams finish the fall schedule with 3-1 records and resume action in March.
