Tennis drops AAC quarterfinal matches to top-10 teams
Both Milligan University tennis teams lost to nationally-ranked top-10 teams in the quarterfinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament Thursday at the Champions Club. The men lost to No. 10 Union 4-0 in the morning before the women lost to No. 9 Montreat 4-0 in the afternoon.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 15, 2021) – Both Milligan University tennis teams lost to nationally-ranked top-10 teams in the quarterfinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament Thursday at the Champions Club. The men lost to No. 10 Union 4-0 in the morning before the women lost to No. 9 Montreat 4-0 in the afternoon.
Milligan ended the season with records of 4-10 (1-5 AAC) for the men and 4-10 (2-6 AAC) for the women.
Charlie Moseley led the Buffs this season in singles with a 7-4 record, including 6-2 at the No. 6 spot. Nathan Smiley posted a second-most four wins, playing anywhere from one singles to four singles. Mason Grear had a similar record to Moseley in doubles, going 7-6, four of those wins coming with Taylor Graalman.
Rachel Dove and Karson Light both won six matches in singles this season to lead Milligan on the women's side. Kylie Enarson followed close behind with five wins. Marlaina Peterson was the Buffs' doubles leader with six doubles wins this season.
