Men’s tennis tops Huntingdon, 7-0
It was a win from top to bottom for the Milligan University men’s tennis team Saturday afternoon. The Buffaloes lost only two sets in a 7-0 win against Huntingdon.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 6, 2021) – It was a win from top to bottom for the Milligan University men's tennis team Saturday afternoon. The Buffaloes lost only two sets in a 7-0 win against Huntingdon.
Nathan Smiley, Ryan Thomas and Griffin Leonard had the quickest singles wins of the day, each winning in straight sets and combining to drop only five games at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5. Daniel Roshak and Landon Brown needed a third set super tiebreaker to come away with their wins, and both did in relatively easy fashion. Roshak won his match at No. 3 singles despite dropping the second set. Brown won his match at No. 4 singles after bouncing back from a set-one loss.
The Buffaloes started the day with an easy point in the doubles action as Jose Giler and Roshak took down Huntingdon's Carson Sands and Clint Robinson 8-1 at No. 1. Brown and Derian Janeke then took down John David Bailey and Cameron Reed 8-6 at No. 2 to give Milligan the doubles point.
Milligan continues the season with the next three matches scheduled to be at home. First up is St. Thomas Monday at 11 a.m. Appalachian Athletic Conference play will begin Saturday, March 13, at 2 p.m. against Montreat.
