Tennis adds five for 2020-21
Head tennis coach Ryan Reynolds announced the addition of five players to the Milligan University tennis program as part of his 2020 signing class. Kylie Enarson, Macy Kennedy and Jaelyn Casteel join the women’s side while Nathan Smiley and Ryan Thomas join the men’s side.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Aug. 3, 2020) – Head tennis coach Ryan Reynolds announced the addition of five players to the Milligan University tennis program as part of his 2020 signing class. Kylie Enarson, Macy Kennedy and Jaelyn Casteel join the women's side while Nathan Smiley and Ryan Thomas join the men's side.
"We have a strong incoming class this year," Reynolds said. "I expect every player to make an impact, and I'm really excited for the upcoming season!"
Enarson comes from Santiago High School, a Division II high school in Corona, California, where she played varsity all four years and earned captain of her squad.
Kennedy, a graduate of Greeneville High School, is a three-time district player of the year, having played in two district championships, one region championship and one state tournament. Kennedy went to the state tournament her freshman year before earning the No. 1 singles spot on her team in her junior and senior years. Additionally, Kennedy owns a high school record of 78-11 and has been ranked inside the top 150 in the south and inside the top 80 in Tennessee since she was eight years old.
Casteel holds similar accomplishments at the state and regional levels as a singles district champion and singles regional champion in her sophomore year at South Greene High School. Casteel also was a singles state tournament qualifier.
Smiley comes to Milligan as a homeschooler from Fort Myers, Florida, where he was a two-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net. Smiley's most notable accomplishment was winning the 2017 men's tennis MVP at Southwest Florida Christian Academy.
Rounding out the recruiting list on the men's side is Thomas, who ranked as high as No. 263 in the nation while attending Calvary Chapel High School in Santa Ana, California.
