Men and women’s tennis pick up wins at UVA Wise
The Milligan College men and women’s tennis teams finished their fall season Wednesday afternoon with wins over UVA Wise. The men won 7-0 and the women won 4-3.
WISE, Va. (Oct. 23, 2019) – The Milligan College men and women's tennis teams finished their fall season Wednesday afternoon with wins over UVA Wise. The men won 7-0 and the women won 4-3.
On the men's side
All of the men competing for Milligan in the individuals beat their opponents in two sets. Taylor Graalman in the No. 1 spot, and Charlie Moseley in the No. 3 spot defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Graalman and Moseley went on to win their doubles match 6-1. Derian Janeke in the No.2 spot beat his opponent 6-0, 6-2, and Carter Rigsby, Justin Rigsby and Daniel Roshak all beat their opponents 6-1, 6-2.
Roshak and Thomas Hurt won their doubles match 6-0, and Landon Brown and Jose Giler won their doubles match 6-4.
The women battle it out
It came down to Rachel Dove to win the match clinching point for the women to defeat UVA Wise. Dove was in the No. 6 spot and dropped the first set 1-6, then won the second set 6-1, then in the third set Dove won the super tiebreaker 10-2.
Kaitlin Barrett in the No. 4 spot and Marlaina Peterson in the No. 5 spot picked up the other two wins for the Buffs in the individual matches. Barrett won her match 6-0, 6-3, and Peterson won her match 6-4, 6-0.
For the women's doubles, Minda Martin and Barrett won their match 6-4 and Marlaina Peterson and MaKenna Peterson won their match 6-3. Karson Light and McKenzie Grady fell in a tight match 4-6.

Today's wins concluded the fall season for the Milligan tennis teams. The Buffs will be back in action in February, with their first match being against Martin Methodist on Saturday, Feb. 8.
