Buffaloes Men's Swimming has Four Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. - On Tuesday, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District men's swimming and diving team was unveiled, with four Milligan swimmers recognized for their excellence in the classroom and in the pool. Caleb Fry, Paxton Smith, Andre Bazzana and Sergio Tudor were selected for the award, while Fry will continue on to the be considered for the Academic All-America team.
Fry's 3.71 GPA in the Computer Science program, coupled with his impressive feats as the runner-up nationally in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard breaststroke. He also helped the Buffs snag runner-up honors in the 200 yard medley relay and a national title for the first time in a relay in the 200 yard freestyle relay. He will now move on to the Academic All-America voting.
Smith has a 3.79 GPA in the Mechanical Engineering program, and has put forth Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) runner-up finishes in the 50 freestlye, 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. He went to nationals for each of those three events, as well.
Bazzana boasts a 3.94 GPA in Graphic Design, and finished in the top six in three events at the AAC Championships. Those events were the 200 freestlye, 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly. He also went on to nationals for the 100 butterfly and the 200 butterfly, while also competing in the 200 individual medley.
For Tudor, he has a 3.86 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, and also was a top-five finisher at the AAC Championships in three event. He competed in the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Additionally, he went to nationals for 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly, earning eighth place as an individual in the 100 butterfly, earning NAIA All-America status.
