Fry and van Vuure Sweep AAC Swimmer of the Week Awards for Milligan Swimming
WALESKA, Ga. - On Monday, the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) released their Swimmers of the Week for Jan. 6-12, with Caleb Fry and Samantha van Vuure being recognized for the two Milligan University squads this time around. This is the second week in a row that Milligan has swept the honors.
Fry's weekend at the Colonel Classic, hosted by Centre College in Danville, Ky., was a dominant one. He won three individual events and helped three relay teams to wins at the meet. He posted a season-best mark in his 100 Freestyle title swim, notching a 46.12. He also won the 50 Freestyle, where he came in at 20.91 seconds, and finished off his individual wins with a triumph in the 100 Breaststroke, where he clocked in at 56.36.
For van Vuure, it was a pair of event victories and a third-place individual showing, that propelled her to the award this week. She won the 200 Backstroke, while achieving a season-best mark of 2:07.71, and also won the 100 Backstroke, where she touched the wall in 1:00.03. Lastly she placed third in the 200 Individual Medley, in which she scored a 2:14.30 on the stopwatch.
