Andre Bazzana selected as CSC Academic All-American
AUSTIN, Texas (March 20, 2023) – Milligan University sophomore swimmer Andre Bazzana was tabbed as a member of the NAIA Men’s Swimming Academic All-America® First Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
AUSTIN, Texas (March 20, 2023) – Milligan University sophomore swimmer Andre Bazzana was tabbed as a member of the NAIA Men's Swimming Academic All-America® First Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
Bazzana is the 19th Academic All-American in school history and the second men's swimmer to earn the prestigious honor, joining Wiktor Perkowski who collected the honor last year.
Bazzana was one of three sophomores on the 12-man Academic All-America team. The graphic design major from Guarulhos, Brazil owns a 3.88 cumulative grade point average.
In the pool, Bazzana is a three-time individual NAIA All-American and a nine-time relay All-American. In two Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships, Bazzana has won four individual titles and swam on nine conference championship relays. In 2022 he was honored as the AAC Swimmer of the Year.
Bazzana owns Milligan's team record in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.73) and ranks top five in program history in the 100 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 100-yard butterfly and 200 fly.
Milligan men's swimming claimed its third-straight AAC championship as the Buffs won 15 of 18 conference titles and set six AAC championship meet records. At the NAIA National Championships, the Buffs finished fifth overall for the second-consecutive season. The Buffs had a record 16 men's All-American honors and posted their highest point total at the national championship meet. Milligan set a dozen school records this season with eight new individual records and four new relay marks.
