13 swimmers earn CSCAA Scholar All-American honors
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (June 29, 2022) – The Milligan University men?s and women?s swim teams had 13 student-athletes honored as Scholar All-Americans by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Wednesday.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (June 29, 2022) – The Milligan University men's and women's swim teams had 13 student-athletes honored as Scholar All-Americans by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Wednesday.
The Buffs had seven women's swimmers and six men's swimmers receive Scholar All-American status. Milligan had the fourth most men's honorees and fifth most women's selections among NAIA institutions awarded by the CSCAA.
To qualify for individual Scholar All-America honors, a student must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.50 during the 2021-22 season. Athletically, First Team honorees were invited to compete in their respective national champion event and Second Team selections must have recorded an individual "B" standard.
Both Milligan's men's and women's swim teams were named Spring Scholar All-America Teams by the CSCAA for the sixth-straight semester earlier in the week.
Maggie Blazo earned her third-straight First Team Scholar All-America honor. She became Milligan's first-ever multi-year CoSIDA Academic All-American earlier this summer. Wiktor Perkowski and Gabby MacPherson also reeled in Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA for 2021-22.
Milligan finished fifth at the NAIA National Championships in the men's and women's team standings. Sophomore Stephen Gilbert became Milligan's first-ever NAIA national champion in swimming as he captured the national title in the 400-yard individual medley in an NAIA all-time record time of 3:51.08.
