Men’s and Women’s Swimming earn Scholar All-America Team status for spring 2022
RICHMOND, Va. (June 27, 2022) – Both of Milligan University’s nationally-ranked swim teams were named Scholar All-America Teams for the 2022 spring semester by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday.
RICHMOND, Va. (June 27, 2022) – Both of Milligan University's nationally-ranked swim teams were named Scholar All-America Teams for the 2022 spring semester by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday.
The Buffs received the honor for the sixth-straight semester under head coach Spencer Scarth. To earn Scholar All-America honors, a team must record a grade point average of 3.0 during the semester.
Both of Milligan's swim teams ranked in the top 10 among NAIA schools in grade point average for the spring 2022 semester. The men posted the third-highest GPA in the NAIA at 3.46 and Milligan's women recorded a 3.5, the No. 6 GPA in the NAIA.
Milligan finished fifth at the NAIA National Championships in the men's and women's team standings. Sophomore Stephen Gilbert became Milligan's first-ever NAIA national champion in swimming as he captured the national title in the 400-yard individual medley in an NAIA all-time record time of 3:51.08.
