ATHENS, Tenn. – The No. 11-ranked Milligan University men's soccer team traveled to long-time foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday and won by a score of 1-0. This makes it seven wins in a row for the nationally-ranked Buffs.
The Buffaloes started the match well, controlling the early minutes, which would continue through much of the first half. The Buffs ultimately outshot TWU 10-2 in the first half. Additionally, Milligan was able to force five first half saves out of the TWU keeper.
After the half, Milligan continued to impose their will on the road. They were finally able to breakthrough thanks to an Ethan Hayes penalty-kick goal in the 83rd minute that would secure the eventual 1-0 win for the Buffs.
Milligan outshot the Bulldogs 16-5 for the match. Justin Madejski led the way with six shots. Marco Lattanzi, Hayes, and Albert Montragull each added two shots apiece in the crucial Appalachian Athletic Comference (AAC) win.
The Buffs are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 23, as they travel to Union Commonwealth in what will be a top-of-the-table clash in Barbourville, Ky.
