MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The No. 11-ranked Milligan University men's soccer squad was back at Anglin Field on Saturday afternoon to host the Eagles of Reinhardt University. In a battle that looked close for a half of play, the Buffaloes pulled away late to notch another dominant Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win, 4-0.
With the win, Milligan stays unbeaten, going to 7-0-3 overall and 5-0-2 in the AAC.
Early on, Boikaego Mbaakanyi scored in just the 2nd minute of the battle on a long pass through the air by Justin Madejski to tally the first goal of the bout. From that point until the half, the two sides were scoreless. In terms of possessing the ball, the two sides traded turns throughout the half, as neither side had a major advantage.
That changed in the second half, as the Buffaloes were dominant, scoring their first goal of the second half in the 51st minute off the boot of Simeon Haraldstad. Then, just over five minutes later, Albert Montragull bent a beautiful shot off the right post and past the goalie to make it 3-0. Finally, Madejski scored a tally of his own on a header straight through the hands of the Reinhardt keeper off a cross in by Alexsander Krogh. That score would hold, as the Buffs came away with a 4-0 triumph.
Milligan held a 16-5 shot advantage in the bout, holding Reinhardt to zero shots on goal. Milligan had 11 shots on goal in the game, as beyond the four goals there were five additional players who took shots on net. James Bakou, Elies Simo (2), Montragull, Mbaakanyi (2) and Hayden Grubb supplied the rest of the saved shots in the tilt.
Adria Alles earned the shutout in the matchup without having to make a save, making his record 4-0-0 for the campaign.
Looking ahead, the Buffs will now host Kentucky Christian at Anglin Field on Wednesday evening, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., looking to stay undefeated for the 2024 season.
