Alles Makes Season Debut in No. 4 Milligan Men's Soccer's Tie against Bryan
DAYTON, Tenn. – A seesaw affair on Wednesday night at Bryan College ended in a 2-2 draw for the No. 4-ranked Milligan University men's soccer squad, pushing their season record to 3-0-3 with a 1-0-2 record within the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).
The hosting Lions got off to a hot start with a goal in just the 7th minute of play, putting an early bit of pressure on the Buffs. The weight on their shoulders would be lifted later in the half, however, as Kai Slinn benefitted from a botched clearance by the Bryan back line on a James Bakou cross into the goal box and took a one-time shot and placed it perfectly in the bottom-right corner to tie the score 1-1. That is how things would stay into the intermission.
Similarly, Bryan struck first in the second half, tallying the tiebreaking goal in the 70th minute to take a 2-1 lead. Milligan sat on the deficit for nearly 10 minutes, but substitute Marco Lattanzi was finally able to supply an equalizer on a rolling shot from the right side of the goal box to the bottom-left corner to knot things at 2-2. The final five minutes of the match were volatile, as the Buffs and Lions each had legitimate chances to score the game-winning tally, but each fell short.
Milligan dominated possession, as well as holding the shot advantage. They took 24 shots, with 14 of those finishing on goal. Conversely, Bryan had just 12 shots and had six on net. Slinn led the way with six total shots and three of them on frame, while scoring the team's first goal. Albert Montragull took four shots and tested the keeper with a pair of those. Elies Simo, Alex Panner and Alexsander Krogh took three shots apiece, having two each saved. Lattanzi scored the second Buffs goal and had two total shots on frame. Simen Haraldstad was responsible for the other try on net.
After Ludvig Wille spent the first 45 minutes in net and allowed one goal on two shots on frame, Adria Alles made his season debut between the pipes, stopping three of the four shots that he faced on net. He also allowed Bryan's second goal of the bout.
The Milligan men will look to build upon the result when they face the Columbia College (S.C.) Koalas in an AAC competition at Anglin Field on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.
